There is an Instagram challenge by the Modern Cologne Quilters: what do you collect? Fabrics, fabric scraps and or rulers? I have them all. I started to sort and iron my neutral scraps and I was blown away becauae I have so many. So far I just put them into little boxes and had them in my shelves. They took away a lot of space. Now I have them sorted according to size and I really was impressed. I have red scraps as well. I have to sort those, too.
Of course I have many rulers, too: for straight cuts, for circles and for ruler quilting. In the picture you just see my favorite rulers for cutting.

What are you? Scrappy happy or ruler happy?

The second day of the instagram challenge of the @moderncolognequilter .
It is all about the favorite special rulers. I use the quick curve rulers almost always, also the blocloc ruler and a 2.5" × 10" ruler. They are very handy and so versatile.

Spezial Lineale -

Do you like scraps and also sew with them or do you just collect and then ignore them? I ignored the scraps although I collected them. Quilting fabric is too expensive in Germany to throw it away. When we (@moderncolognequilter ) started with our scrappy year of 2020 I took out all the bins with scraps, ironed them and sorted them by color and size. I was totally surprised about those treasures and started to sign up for scrappy quilt alongs. My first projects are on the way. It is so much fun to finally use the scraps. I plan on using the scraps in a organized way- not totally colorful scrappy but scrappyhappy in my sorted colors.

3. Tag - Sammelst Du Scraps?

Can you see my favorite color right now? It is day four of the Modern Cologne Quilters challenge. What is your favorite scrap color? Is black and neutrals a color? Well, for me it does not really matter.... I use up my scraps and plan on a scrappy bag. And I plan on doing something scrappy yellow and scrappy red. Just to talk about real colors 😉
.
The blocks are HSTs. You can find the idea in the scrapbagsampler QAL. This block is great and therefore, I already made 6 of them. I can use them for several bags or for baskets...I will make more of those.

4. Tag - Lieblingsfarbe

The fifth day of the Modern Cologne Quilter' s challenge ruler meet scraps. Todays question is all about inspiration: is there a project that inspired you to go scrappy? I was totally inspired by the Irish Chain QAL of @gigis_thimble and decided to make a scrappy Irish chain quilt. And I am thinking of doing another scrappy Irish chain. It is just such a wonderful pattern to use all those 2.5 " stripes and squares. I love it.

My Go-To-Project for 2020. This is a scrappy pillow cover that I started a long time ago. And I definitely want to finish it. Now that I have sorted all those scraps that should not be too difficult. It is just 81 squares...

My scrappy projects for this year. Three tops that have to be quilted. Pillows and table sets and a bag. Scrappy is wonderful and the result is always surprising. The challenge of the Modern Cologne Quilters is almost over. Only one day is left.

The last day in the Modern Cologne Quilters challenge is all about rulers. Go through your rulers and find the ruler that you have always wanted to use. This was difficult. I decided on the oval ruler that I bought because I always wanted to make oval shapes. I still want to try it and now it is on the vety top of my list again. Do you also have those treasures?

7. Tag - Unbenutzte Lineale
