So traditional - The Gretchen Block

And again it was time for another Classic & Vintage Quilt Pattern of Fatquartershop. This time it is the Gretchen block from 1932. And again it was great fun to be in the Quilt Along.

Fatquartershop asked for interested quilters and I was determined to do another quilt in that series. The name of the quilt is simply wonderful! Gretchen Quilt!

Today is the day of the pattern release on the Jolly Jabber Blog. It is a free pattern. And it is a totally traditional pattern. I totally love it.

By the way, do you know the Jolly Jabber Blog? It is filled with ideas and patterns and also with some history about the blocks. Although the block is from 1932 it is rather timeless. You can download the pattern and also find a video about the block.

The block is not to difficult to make. It is some half square triangles and some squares. I decided to make the block in black and white so that it really is standing out and maybe a bit modern, too.

I have started with two blocks and am almost done with block 3 and four. My quilting time was not extensive in the last two weeks.

Can you see where the quilt is going?

And again I am so happy with the block and the outcome. And you know what? I will try the next traditional block, too.

This is so far my 8th block in this Classic  Vintage Quilt series:

January 2018 Double Nine Patch Quilt

April 2018  Wild Geese Straight Furrows Quilt

October 2018 Maple Leaf Quilt

Mai 2019 Rocket Star Quilt

October 2020 Blazing Star Block

May 2021 Lend and Borrow Block

Happy quilting and greetings from Germany,

LG eSTe
